“The fishermen who earn their living from the sea have inspired me to learn and support policies and practices that ensure fisheries remain healthy, productive, and viable for many years to come. The Fishermen’s Alliance promotes the sustained interests of local fishermen in conjunction with environmental stewardship to ensure that the history and traditions of fishing on Cape Cod will continue as our oceans evolve.”
Amanda joined the Fishermen’s Alliance in May 2017. Prior to joining the Alliance, she earned her Master’s in Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island, where she also worked as a graduate assistant for the R/V ENDEAVOR. From 2011-2016, she served as an active duty Coast Guard Officer on the Coast Guard Cutters HARRIET LANE, WAESCHE, and at the Pacific Area Command Center. Prior to commissioning, she earned her BS in Marine and Environmental Science from the US Coast Guard Academy. During her time in in the Coast Guard she participated in a variety of fisheries and other operational missions around the world and gained an intense appreciation for the sea and those who earn their living on it.
